Community – Public safety at Cornell is a collaborative effort between us and the community we serve. Today, we are keeping missing student Shawn West and his family in our thoughts and foremost in our efforts to find him. We ask you to do the same. If you have any information about Shawn’s whereabouts, please call 607-255-1111 or email at CUP-inv@cornell.edu.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month – A sexual assault takes place every 73 seconds in the U.S., and the World Health Organization estimates one in three women worldwide have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner, non-partner sexual violence or both. Cornell’s SHARE website provides education, support and resources and it is an ever-present link below in these weekly messages. If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, help is available. The Sexual Violence Prevention Network has organized many important activities throughout the month and they are open to the Cornell community.

Tax Time – Recently, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) warned students and employees of an ongoing IRS-impersonation email scam targeting universities. The phishing messages display the IRS logo and feature subject lines like “Tax refund payment” and “Recalculation of your tax refund payment.” If you receive a suspicious email, do not click on any links or open any attachments. You can report it to the IRS. For help with Cornell Information Technology security-related issues, you can also contact itsecurity@cornell.edu.
