Cornell University Police, in conjunction with the Ithaca Police Department, is
investigating reported stalking incidents that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16, on the 100 block of Maple Avenue and, again, at approximately
7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at the Maplewood Park Apartments on Maple Avenue. The
incidents were first reported to the Cornell University Police late Sunday night,
April 20.
A female victim reports that a male subject, operating a pickup truck, followed her
on two occasions around the area of Maple Avenue and the Maplewood Park Apartments.
On one occasion, the subject asked the victim if she needed a ride. The victim
described the subject as a white male in his early 30s, average build, with no
facial hair, no glasses and short brown hair. The subject was last seen wearing a
black t-shirt with writing on it and driving a older-style, two-door pickup truck.
The truck was black and had rust, according to the victim?s description.
Cornell Police reminds people to lock their windows and doors at all times, to be
aware of their surroundings at night, to avoid darkened and secluded areas and to
walk in groups.
Members of the campus community are asked to take advantage of the campus Blue
Light services, including: the Blue Light emergency telephones around campus, which
have direct lines to Cornell Police; the Blue Light bus service that operates daily
on campus from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.; and the Blue Light escort service, which
provides night escorts around the Cornell campus and the closely surrounding area,
and which can be requested by calling 255-7373 or by using a Blue Light phone.
All suspicious activity should be reported to the police. On campus activity can be
reported to the Cornell University Police by calling 255-1111, or 911 in case of an
emergency.
Suspicious activity off campus can be reported to the Ithaca Police Department by
calling 272-3245, or 911 in case of an emergency.
